Weekly Aural Fixation.

Finally picked up a copy of El Camino. Easily my least favorite Keys album to date, but that still makes it pretty good. It's fun and doesn't take itself too seriously and I can appreciate that.


Shins b-side. Very Shinsy.

Note: I wrote this Monday, and I think it's mostly blown over, but I'm going to post it anyway.
I watched the Super Bowl Sunday night, but didn't catch the M.I.A. Fingergate. The gesture was unnecessary, but so is the idea that one woman raising one finger on her hand is a large enough offensive to warrant a fine. Flip the hand around and put up a different finger and it's a perfectly acceptable showing of pride in one's team. Yes, the gesture does convey negative feelings, but so do murder and violence, which are acceptable in prime time television. Why the big fuss? And if the NFL wanted to avoid controversy and have a family-friendly show, Madonna probably isn't the safest choice. Not to say she had anything to do with it, but she has been a lightning rod throughout her career. Just saying.
